Honey Chai Lip Scrub - FREE Beginner vs Advanced Formula

Natural Honey Chai Lip Scrub Formula; 

Phase A

• 2% Cocoa Butter

• 15% Castor Oil

• 14.5% Caprylic Capric Triglyceride

• 4% Beeswax

  
  

Phase B

• 0.5% Vitamin E (T50)

• 3% Purified Honey

• 1% Chai Tea Flavor oil

• 60% White Granulated Sugar

  
  

Directions; 

1. Combine all ingredients in phase A in a heat safe container and place in a water bath to melt everything. (A water bath is a pan filled with an inch or so of water. Place your pan on your Stove Top on medium heat.) 

   

2. Once everything has melted you can remove from heat.  

3. Once it starts to solidify you can add in the phase B ingredients one at a time, mixing in between each one.

   

4. Scoop into desired jars. I used these 1 oz glass jars. I also my lip scrub into Piping Bags(no tip needed) to make it easier to fill my jars.  

   

How to use;

Take a pea-sized amount and gently scrub your lips, then wipe off excess.

Phase A

• 6 grams Cocoa Butter

• 45 grams Castor Oil

• 43.5 grams Caprylic Capric Triglyceride

• 12 grams Beeswax

  
  

Phase B

• 1.5 grams Vitamin E (T50)

• 9 grams Purified Honey

• 3 grams Chai Tea Flavor oil

• 180 grams White Granulated Sugar

  
  

Benefits / Uses of Ingredients;

Cocoa Butter - emollient that adds a natural scent of chocolate. Helps moisturize lips and thicken lip scrub.

Castor Oil - heavy natural oil that helps moisturize lips

Caprylic Capric Triglyceride - lightweight emollient 

Beeswax - thickens lip scrub 

Vitamin E (T50) - antioxidant & helps keep the natural oil and butter fresh longer

Purified Honey - hydrates & soothes lips

White Granulated Sugar - Exfoliant 

Chai Tea Flavor oil - adds the chai scent

Substitutes;

Cocoa Butter - any butter of choice.

Castor Oil - any oil of choice.

Caprylic Capric Triglyceride - any oil of choice.

Beeswax - any wax of choice, Candelilla Wax, Carnauba Wax, Sunflower Wax. Cetyl Alcohol or other fatty acid or alcohol will also work.

Vitamin E (T50) - you can leave out

Purified Honey - any oil of choice

White Granulated Sugar - any sugar of choice

Chai Tea Flavor oil - any flavor oil of choice

I wanted to make a more advanced version with ingredients I bought from TKB trading that are commonly found in lip products. 

Advanced Honey Chai Lip Scrub Formula; (not natural)

Phase A

• 2% Cocoa Butter

• 5% Cera Bellina

• 10% Caprylic Capric Triglyceride

• 5% Polybutene

• 5% Hydrogenated Polyisobutene

• 8.5% Octyldodecanol

  
  

Phase B

• 0.5% Vitamin E (T50)

• 3% Purified Honey

• 1% Chai Tea Flavor oil

• 60% White Granulated Sugar

I did find that the advanced lip scrub had better spreadability and it did feel more luxurious. It’s easier to not drop the scrub while exfoliating your lips compared to the simple/natural version.
