Making your own body powder is probably the easier DIY EVER!

Making the Base

Realistically all you need is either Corn Starch or Arrowroot Powder. Either of these would work perfectly fine as a body powder, but I will say, I like Arrowroot Powder more. Arrowroot Powder just seems like more of a loose powder and doesn’t pack together as much as Corn Starch does. I recommend comparing both of these powders to see which one you prefer. If you only have one of them on hand, that is fine, cause that is all you need.
Additives

You can change around how the powder feels a bit by using different powders. I personally don’t suggest any of these making up the main percentage of your body powder.
Tapioca Starch - super soft luscious powder. Very light flowing powder (I suggest 5-30%)
Baking Soda - can help absorb odor and moisture. (I suggest 5-30%) *may cause irritation for sensitive skin.
Magnesium Hydroxide Powder - Deodorizing, absorbs excess oils, & pH balancing. (I suggest 1-10%) can be used up to 30%
Kaolin Clay - absorbs excess oils, and said to “detox”
Clays

There are so many different clays you could use;
ETC….
Personally I couldn’t find a use for a clay in any of my formulas I shared. I experimented with all the clays I had to see what colors I could make. In the end I decided to color my Sleepy Time Body Powder with Purple Mica Powder because I liked the brighter purple shade. I tried Purple Clay, but it was too dull of a purple for my liking.
Herbal Powders
Yup, you could add in herbal powders if you want too. Personally I think this added too much of a grittiness, it’s not the vibe I was going for, but have fun getting creative with your formulas. I recommend grinding up any herbs that are too course with a Coffee Grinder. Here are some herbal powders you could use.
ETC….
Other Powders
I was checking out the ingredient lists to body powders on the market and I seen some containing DL Panthenol, Allantoin, Niacinamide and I honestly do not know if that is worth it. I feel like the powder needs to be dissolved in water in order for it to be active. I kinda feel like this is just throwing money down the drain. So personally I kept the expensive actives / powders out of the body powders. I kinda feel the same way when it comes to the herbal powders, but I know these types of ingredients can be a big selling point. (What’s your thoughts???)
