The secret to making color changing products is TKB Lip Liquid - Presto Change-o Magic Color.
Technically it’s Red 27, but not any Red 27 will work. Marie from Humblebee and Me did an amazing deep dive on the viral color changing magic we’ve been seeing everywhere online lately. So make sure you go watch her video as well to learn more about the chemistry going on behind this color changing magic.
Important info when using TKB Lip Liquid - Presto Change-o Magic Color
Use at 0.1% in your formula if you want to keep your product clear.
Can be used to make any lip product, not only lip gloss.
Add other colors and pigments (no mica) to make the product appear one color, but change to pink once applied.
Don’t mix with mica pigments.
If you want shimmer/glitter you need to use plastic glitters or else the product will turn pink.
I used it with TKB’s lip safe preservative and it caused it to turn pink.
It stains! Wear gloves & protect your work area.
Color changes to hot pink. I think people say the color looks different on everyone because sometimes someone can be wearing the same lip product, but look a different shade once it’s on. So I think that is why people say it looks different on everyone.
Pigment is activated from your skin, lips, alcohol, or water. So if you are someone who uses rubbing alcohol a lot while formulating. Watch out. That can cause it to activate.
Use metal and glass utensils.
To clean stains use wipes or rubbing alcohol for best results. They also say soap and water work, but I had best results with cleaning wipes.
Tip: For best results have a scale that weighs down to 0.001 grams to make sure you are accurately weighing out your pigments. A 0.01 gram scale can’t pick up each addition of pigment sometimes because it’s so light. If you are selling these lip products, I do recommend investing in a scale that weighs down to 0.001 grams. Pigments are very light and a 0.01 gram scale might not pick up on every bit of pigment you place on the scale because it’s so light. This can result in a final product that is a bit different from previous products. Customers expect lip products to be the same shade every time they buy them. So if you are selling, please invest in a 0.001 gram scale. They are expensive, but it will be worth it. If you aren’t selling, then you don’t need one.
How to use TKB Lip Liquid - Presto Change-o Magic Color
Add at anytime in the formulating process and mix well. Make sure you do not get any water, alcohol, or skin contact around the container you are making the product in either. If you touch the container with bare hands it can cause the color to activate. Be very careful when formulating with this stuff.

0.1% Presto Change-o Magic color Lip Liquid
Directions;
In a sanitized container, combine all ingredients in Phase A and mix well.
In a heat safe sanitized container, combine all ingredients in phase B and mix. I couldn’t get the pigment to dissolve fully. So I placed the container on my Hot Plate to warm it up to help dissolve and this helped a lot! I still didn’t get it to dissolve fully, but my lip gloss turned out fine in the end.
I poured phase B into A trying to avoid the chunks of pigment as much as possible. A few chunks got in, but again, my lip gloss was fine in the end.
Combine everything well and use a Plastic Syringe to get into your lip gloss tube of choice.
