How to Make Under Eye Gel Patches

Simple Under Eye Patch Formula

Phase A

Phase B

Simple Under Eye Patch 200 Gram Recipe

Phase A

Phase B

Directions;

  • In a heat safe sanitized container add in the distilled water and heat to 90°C. (You won’t be able to get it to 90°C using a water bath, you will need a Hot Plate

  • Once it reaches 90°C you can add in the Agar Agar Powder and mix.

  • Set a time for 5 minutes and come back periodically to mix to help dissolve.

  • While phase A is heating for 5 minutes you can work on phase B.

  • In a sanitized container mix together both ingredients in phase B and set aside until needed.

  • Once phase A has boiled at  90°C for 5 minutes you can turn off the heat & add in phase B as long as it’s below 100°C

  • Once everything is mixed together you can let it cool for a bit. Don’t let it cool for too long or it will start gelling, but letting it sit for 5 minutes or a bit longer, should be fine. It will be boiling hot, so you need to let it cool for a bit or else it will be really hard to pour into your molds.

  • Once you are able to fill your molds you can either pour the product directly into the molds or use a Pipette to make it easier to fill the molds.

  • Let cool overnight, it doesn’t need refrigerated, room temperature should be fine. Then the next day you can remove them from the molds or leave them in the mold until you are ready to use them.

Serum for Storing Under Eye Patches;

After making these under eye patches I realized, they need a serum to be stored in. If you ever noticed, when you buy under eye patches they are usually soaked in some kind of liquid. So I decided to make a really simple serum formula to keep the under eye patches stored it. This serum also helps prevent the under eye patches from sticking together. The serum also feels lovely on the skin. Once you removed the patches from your under eyes you can rub in the access serum. I used this serum base for both under eye patches.

Formula for Storage Serum;

phase A

phase B

200 gram recipe for Storage Serum;

phase A

phase B

Directions;

  • In a sanitized container combine and mix together both ingredients in phase A.

  • Next add the distilled water into phase A

  • Lastly add in the Sodium Carbomer a little bit at a time while mixing. You will noticed the Sodium Carbomer immediately starts to gel and it will create chunks in the formula. The slower you add in the Sodium Carbomer and the more you mix it the less chunking you will get. If you end up with a lot of chunks, just let it sit for a couple hours or overnight and it will be smooth the next day. For best results use a Magnet Stirrer so you can create a vortex and have the product mixing while you adding the Sodium Carbomer in to prevent clumping.

  • You don’t need to check or adjust the pH of this as the pH will be around 6 due to the Sodium Carbomer

How to store Under Eye Patches

I took a 4 oz jar and put a small scoop of the storage serum on the bottom and then put one set of under eye patches on top. Then I put a single scoop of storage serum on top of those under eye patches and placed another set of eye patches on top of those. I continued doing this by putting another scoop of storage serum on top of those eye patches along with another set of eye patches on top of that and continued doing this until the jar was full. This was a tedious process because some of these eye patches were too thin. The thin was broke really easily and were harder to get out of the molds. So make sure you make these thick enough. I also think if I used more Agar Agar Powder it would of made these a bit harder and less fragile.

Either way, I did enjoy this method of storage because I was able to fit about 20 sets of these eye patches in a single 4 oz jar.

Another method of storage, is you could keep the eye patches in their molds and pour some of the storage serum on top of the under eye patches and store them in a plastic bag or a mylar bag.

If you can think of any other storage methods, let me know :)

Soothing Under Eye Patch Formula

Phase A

72.5% Distilled Water

Phase B

1% Euxyl K 900 INCI; Benzyl Alcohol (and) Ethylhexylglycerin

Soothing Under Eye Patch 200 Gram Recipe

Phase A

145 grams Distilled Water

Phase B

2 grams Euxyl K 900 INCI; Benzyl Alcohol (and) Ethylhexylglycerin

20 grams Glycerin

Directions;

  • In a heat safe sanitized container add in the distilled water and heat to 90°C. (You won’t be able to get it to 90°C using a water bath, you will need a Hot Plate)

  • Once it starts to heat up to around 40° C you can add in the Allantoin and mix it in to help dissolve it. It might take a minute to dissolve, but by the time it reaches 90°C the Allantoin should be dissolved.

  • Once it reaches 90°C you can add in the Agar Agar Powder and mix.

  • Set a time for 5 minutes and come back periodically to mix to help dissolve.

  • While phase A is heating for 5 minutes you can work on phase B.

  • In a sanitized container mix together all of the ingredients in phase B and set aside until needed.

  • Once phase A has boiled at  90°C for 5 minutes you can add in the Colloidal Oatmeal. I couldn’t get the Colloidal Oatmeal to dissolved so I had to use an Immersion Blender to break up all the Colloidal Oatmeal. So make sure you use an Immersion Blender to blend in the  Colloidal Oatmeal or else you will end up with chunks.

  • Once everything in phase A is combined you can turn off the heat & add in phase B as long as the temperature is below 100°C

  • I stored these in the same storage serum as the first under eye patches I made.
