Formula

Phase A

• 5% Glycerin

• 5% Cocamidopropyl Betaine

• 5% Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate

• 5% Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate Powder (SCI)  

Phase B

• 57% Distilled Water

• 2% Sodium Stearate

Phase C

• 3% Stearic Acid

• 2% Lauric Acid

• 2% Cetearyl Alcohol

• 0.5% Synthetic Wax

• 1% Shea Butter

• 1% Caprylic Carpric Triglyceride

Phase D

• 5% Bamboo Stem Powder

• 5% White Jojoba Pearls

• 0.5% Liquid Germall Plus

• 1% Fragrance Oil

1,000 gram Recipe

Phase A

• 570 g Distilled Water

• 20 g Sodium Stearate

Phase B

• 50 g Glycerin

• 50 g Cocamidopropyl Betaine

• 50 g Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate

• 50 g Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate Powder (SCI)

Phase C

• 30 g Stearic Acid

• 20 g Lauric Acid

• 20 g Cetearyl Alcohol

• 5 g Synthetic Wax

• 10 g Shea Butter

• 10 g  Caprylic Carpric Triglyceride

Phase D

• 50 g Bamboo Stem Powder

• 50 g White Jojoba Pearls

• 5 g Liquid Germall Plus

• 10 g Fragrance Oil

Directions;

• Combine all ingredients in phase A in a heat safe bowl and mix until it becomes a paste.  

• In a separate heat safe container combine all ingredients in phase B. The powder will not mix into the water until we heat it up. 

• In another heat safe container combine all ingredients in phase C.

• Cove both phase A and B with aluminum foil and place in a water bath. (Water Bath: Fill a pan with an inch or so of water. Place your pan on your Stove Top on medium heat.)

• Heat phase B until all of the powder has dissolved into the water. 

• Once the powder has dissolved in phase B you can pour that into phase A. The extra liquid will help dissolve the chunks left in phase A. Heat phase A until there are no chunks left. This can take quite a while.

• While you are waiting for all the chunks to dissolve in phase A/B, Cover phase C with aluminum foil and place in the water bath to melt everything. 

• Once all the chunks are dissolved in phase A/B and everything has melted in phase C, you can pour phase A/B into phase C and mix.  

• Cover and let cool to 40°C / 104°F and add in all the ingredients in phase D and mix with a Hand Mixer. Cover and let sit overnight. For fragrance I used Camellia Sugar Fragrance Oil from Bramble Berry. At this time you can add in mica powder or other water soluble or water dispersible coloring. I used Pearl Pink Mica Powder from Bramble Berry. I also added in cranberry seeds instead of the Pomegranate Seeds, since I couldn’t find any.  

Benefits of Each Ingredient;

• Sodium Stearate - soaping agent and emulsifying agent. Not 100% sure what it’s purpose is for this product but those are the benefits listed on WhatsInmyJar.com

• Glycerin - Humectant. Hydrates the skin

• Cocamidopropyl Betaine - adds foam and lather 

• Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate - adds foam and lather

• Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate Powder (SCI) - adds foam and lather

• Stearic Acid - coemulsifier, thickener, emollient

• Lauric Acid - coemulsifier, thickener, emollient

• Cetearyl Alcohol - thickener, coemulsifier, emollient

• Synthetic Wax - hardener

• Shea Butter - emollient

• Caprylic Carpric Triglyceride - emollient

• Liquid Germall Plus - water soluble broad spectrum preservative. Easiest preservative to use. 

• Bamboo Stem Powder - white exfoliant - not as corse as sugar and is great for face scrubs or for other sensitive areas. 

• White Jojoba Pearls - white exfoliant - not as corse as sugar and is great for face scrubs or for other sensitive areas. 
  

Substitutes;

• Sodium Stearate - I think you can leave this out. much

• Glycerin - Propandiol, propylene glycol, or other humectant 

• Cocamidopropyl Betaine - Foaming Apple, Sodium C-14 C-16 Alpha Olefin Sulfonate (AOS 40) Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Coco Betaine, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Lauramidopropyl Betaine, or other liquid surfactant 

• Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate - Use more SCI in place of it or Bioterge AS 90 Surfactant

• Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate Powder (SCI) - Bioterge AS 90 Surfactant

• Stearic Acid - more Lauric Acid or more Cetearyl Alcohol or more Synthetic Wax

• Lauric Acid - more Stearic Acid or more Cetearyl Alcohol or more Synthetic Wax

• Cetearyl Alcohol - more Stearic Acid or more Lauric Acid or more Synthetic Wax

• Synthetic Wax - more Stearic Acid or more Lauric Acid or more Cetearyl Alcohol

• Shea Butter - a different butter of choice

• Caprylic Carpric Triglyceride - a different light oil or emollient ester of choice.

• Liquid Germall Plus - any water soluble broad spectrum preservative of choice. e.g. Euxyl PE 9010  Opiphen Plus  

• Bamboo Stem Powder - White Jojoba Pearls, Pumice Powder, or other exfoliant that won’t dissolve in water. 

• White Jojoba Pearls - Bamboo Stem Powder, Pumice Powder, or other exfoliant that won’t dissolve in water.
