Micellar Water for Oily Acne Skin Types w/ 0.5% Salicylic Acid

ree
  • Not Natural or Ecocert

  • Formulated for Oily Acne Skin types, but great for anyone wanting a micellar water that also exfoliates.

  • This formula has the pH adjuster worked into the formula. Meaning I have already made this product to see how much pH adjuster I would need. When you make this product you might not need the same amount of Triethanolamine as me, but the amount I use, could be a good starting point for you.

  • If not using Triethanolamine as your pH adjuster, create a test batch of 100 grams then check and adjust the pH using your desired pH adjuster. Take note of how much pH adjuster it took and rewrite your formula with the appropriate amount of pH adjuster.

Never worked with Salicylic Acid before? That’s fine!

For this formula I am using Salicylic Acid Solution (INCI: Salicylic Acid, Cocamidopropyl Dimethylamine) from MakingCosmetics.com. This specific Salicylic Acid has been pre dissolved in Cocamidopropyl Dimethylamine which makes Salicylic Acid much easier to formulate with. Typically Salicylic Acid comes in a powder and you need to heat to dissolve it and add some kind of solubilizer to help keep it dissolved in water, otherwise it will recrystallize. So using this Salicylic Acid Solution instead of powder Salicylic Acid allows you to skip the heated phase and you don’t have to worry about the salicylic acid recrystallizing.

5% Salicylic Acid Solution = 2% Active Salicylic Acid

2.5% Salicylic Acid Solution = 1% Active Salicylic Acid

1.25% Salicylic Acid Solution = 0.5% Active Salicylic Acid

Formula;

1.25% Salicylic Acid Solution (INCI: Salicylic Acid, Cocamidopropyl Dimethylamine)

Directions;

How to use;

Soak a cotton pad with product and gently swipe onto skin. Do not use on eye area or use to remove eye makeup. You do not need to rinse this off your skin after, but if you prefer doing so, you can. If you use this as a wash off product I suggest increase the percentage of Salicylic Acid Solution to reap more of its benefits.
